What are "Composer Houses"?
Composer Houses are a special part of music classes. It combines classroom management, learning, teamwork, and fun throughout the school year. Based on the English school house system (like the houses in Harry Potter), in our music classes, students are "sorted" into one of four houses, or teams, at the start of the school year. These houses, each with members from all of the grades, work together throughout the year to earn points for their house totals in hopes of winning the semester. The winning house's composer will be the focus of a unit and that house will be awarded a small, learning-based experiential reward.
